RECOVER WITH US!

THERESA SHARES HER TOP 5 TIPS FOR RECOVERY AND FATIGUE

TAKE REST DAYS

Your body and muscles need time to recover and build. Taking rest days is a great technique to help your body recover fully, and also to reduce the risk of injury. Rest days in moderation are just as important as heavy class days! This way, you are more likely to improve your performance over time.

Additionally to rest day, prioritising sleep is key to recovery! All the research points to the fact that sleep is extremely important and has a significant impact on muscle recovery. If you're serious about getting the best out of your performances and efforts in class, then get to sleep!

HYRDRATE

You’ve heard your Mum say it a million times, and you’re going to hear us say it again! Hydration is key (and glowing skin is an added benefit 😇 ).

Hydration is something that seems so simple, but with how much you sweat in the Inspire studio, it is essential to help avoid muscle cramps and fatigue.

DON’T NEGLECT YOUR STRETCHES

If you’re riding or boxing often, you’ll be doing repetitive movements frequently. Therefore, it’s super important to include mobility and stretching into your routine to optimise recovery.

We have a whole other blog post that explains the benefits of stretching and highlights some useful stretching that you can do before or after class.

TECHNIQUE

I can’t stress this enough! It is so easy to get caught up in the vibe of an Inspire class (which we LOVE), but if your bike setup is off or there is not enough resistance on your wheel, you may be at risk of injury!

The same applies to boxing and our power and strength classes. Concentrate on perfecting your technique before you max out your weights. This way, you will also get the most out of your workout, feel the most burn and see the most results!

GOOD FOOD

Make sure you fuel your body with good, healthy food before or after class.

There are so many good options out there! There are so many great options, some of my personal go-to's are avo toast, fruit and yogurt, and eggs. But I’d have to say my all time favourite is a post-class brunch. I’ll take any excuse to go to my favourite cafe!

Also see Jake's spicy baked egg recipe here. A personal Inspire favourite 😍.
