"CAUSE YOU WERE BORN THIS WAY, BABY" - LADY GAGA
Pride month is important to us here at Inspire.
Our pride event, this year to be held on June 18th, is an important opportunity for us to show our support for the LGBTQIA+ community.
The legacy of pride is bold, unapologetic and celebratory, just like so many beautiful people in our community!
We asked Inspire staff and clients
"What does pride mean to you?"
LUKE AND CHRIS
LUKE
"For me, it means to be yourself, anywhere...anytime."
CHRIS
"It means to be apart of a community where everyone's equal and everybody can express whoever they are, whatever that is."
HAMISH
" To me, pride is celebrating equal rights for all, while reflecting on the positive effects acceptance and kindness has on our world.
BRAYDEN
"Pride is about social progression, but it's about love and acceptance, and about being who you want to be in a modern society."
KAYLA
"In a nutshell, pride is just another opportunity for more visibility. Like, if it was a big thing when I was younger (visibility), I guess I wouldn't have felt so different or alone. So lets just all support each other to be our authentic selves. Love comes in all shapes and sizes ā¤ļø."
ELIANA
"Pride for me is about inclusion and celebrating diversity. It is about being proud of who you are. But let's be honest, it takes a lot of courage to show up, mask off, in the world. It requires you to be vulnerable and exposed. But at the end, if you are happy with who you are, you feel comfortable with that and you love yourself. That's pride."
"As Elena White said one day, what makes us different is our superpower. And everyday when we walk out the door, we have to go out there and conquer the world.... because the world wouldn't if we weren't in it."
BRAD
"What does pride mean to me? It means diversity and inclusion for all, and being able to thrive in a safe space... and have a great time!"
ADRIAN
"Pride is about embracing your inner rainbow and letting your light shine through. It's about embracing the full spectrum of colour, no matter who your neighbour is and who they love. It's about embracing love and light, and having respect for all."
