MEET JONTE

GET TO KNOW YOUR INSTRUCTORS

We're super stoked that Jonte, a long-time Inspire client and best friend to the very infamous Casey Stevenson, is going to be joining our Rumble roster from tomorrow!

Jonte brings so much passion, fun, and light to the Inspire studio! We already know you'll be back for class after class.

We asked Jonte all your burning questions so you can get to know him a little better before you get down and dirty in the Rumble Room!

Jonte, tell us a little bit about you!

Well... my name's Jonte! I'm 21 years old, which people are often surprised to hear. I often get told that I look 25-27 years old and to be honest I don't know if I should take that as a compliment or not haha!

Apart from teaching the lovely Inspire community I also work as an Electrical apprentice on weekdays so I’m always busy and moving around during the week.

Both of my parents are from the Philippines and honestly, they are the best people in the world - I love them deeply. I also have an older brother who is 25 and works as a cop in Townsville, and a younger brother by 10 years who is a bit cheeky (I think he gets that from me a little bit)!

How would you describe yourself in three words?

Passionate, warm-hearted, and honest.

How did you get into boxing?

I watched boxing quite a bit growing up as a kid and I always wanted to give it a go. My best mate Casey (who you're all very familiar with) pushed me to come and try his class at Inspire and while I was a bit hesitant at first, it didn't take long until I was hooked. There's no better feeling than laying into that bag, it's great for relieving stress. The rest is history!

What is it that you love about the Inspire Box community?

Inspire Box, and Inspire in general, has such an incredible community. Everyone is so positive and it's a judgement-free environment. The Inspire boxers always come in ready to learn and to push themselves. It gets to the point where I want to join them in the workout! Seeing everyone in that room makes me so happy and confident!

What style of music do you usually gravitate towards?

I listen to all genres, so in my class, you’ll be hearing a mix of everything! I do hold a special place in my heart for hip hop and R&B though- my parents got me into that type of music when I was younger and it's stuck with me.

What does success look like to you?

Success for me is pretty simple - It’s doing the thing you love the most, surrounded by people you respect and thrive with. People often have jobs they hate, and it's important to try and push yourself out of that mindset and do something you know you’ll love.

What class you are most looking forward to teaching?

I’m excited to teach every day because of the community at Inspire, but I have to say that Friday Fight Club meets Night Club is the class I’m most excited for. On Friday everyone is just so hyped going into the weekend that they really push themselves. It honestly makes me so happy seeing people go hard on messing up those bags.

Okay, time for some fun questions

Favourite artist of all time?

Damnnn that’s a hard question because I love so many artists!

I’ll give you guys my top 5 artists that I vibe to daily (no joke)! Chris Brown, Sza, Kanye West, Bruno Mars, and Tory Lanez. Highly recommend these artists!

What is your favourite song of all time?

Yo (Excuse Me Miss) by Chris Brown or Touch the sky by Kanye West! These just make me want to dance!

Favourite time of day to workout

I'm happy with either morning or

afternoon. I’m that addicted to working out, I just feel weird if I don't go to the gym or to a boxing class!

What are your hobbies?

Apart from loving boxing, I also love playing basketball and going to the gym.

When I go to the gym, I often lift quite heavy! For example when I do legs, I normally squat 140-160kg and when I work on my chest, I bench press 120-140kg.

I may sound crazy lifting that heavy of weight and yes, you’re absolutely right I’m crazy haha!

Next place to travel on your bucket list?

Damn, I want to go travel to so many places. My top 3 though and (I would cry happy tears if I got to go) would be Santorini, anywhere in Japan, or Dubai.

I love the culture and food from all 3 places and I can’t wait to hopefully go in the future!

What will be your first theme class?

I definitely want to do a hip hop and R&B party theme. It's likely I'll be vibing hard and dancing in between rounds!

Last question!

What’s with the big ute?

LOL! With my rig of a ute, I got it to make up for being pretty small in height!

Jokes aside though, I always loved utes and got mine from a great deal with a family friend.

Jonte brings so much excitement and love to our community, we just can't get enough (we know you won't be able to either)!

Check out our timetable to see when and how you can sign up for his classes!

Love + Light x
