MEET EMMA

GET TO KNOW YOUR INSTRUCTORS — TENERIFFE

If you’ve been in the Cycle Studio lately, you would have seen Emma team-teaching on the podium!

Well, It’s time to take the training wheels off! She’ll be riding solo in her FREE Community Ride, Friday 4 October @ 6:30pm! Friday night plans = sorted.

Tell us a bit about your fitness background and how you found us here at Inspire!

I’m a Gold Coast gal and grew up spending most weekends down at the beach! My parents were always super active, and my love for sport definitely came from them. Surfing, dancing and team sports were my vibe for a long time, but now I love distance running, functional training and rhythm riding of course! I moved to Brisbane in 2022 to take on a great new job, and a friend introduced me to Inspire. I was immediately determined to ride front row, and then decided I wanted to host the party from the podium, so here I am!

What’s one thing we might be surprised to learn about you?

I spend my weekdays (and often my weekends!) working as a criminal defence lawyer. I represent all sorts of people, but mostly those who are in trouble with the law, so if you ever find yourself in a pickle with the police, I’m your gal!

What makes your class ✨ special ✨?

NON. STOP. GROOVERS. Every track is chosen because it makes you feel like you want to hop off the bike and have a boogie. If you’re grooving and belting out the tunes, you might not notice how hard I’ve got you working!

What inspires you?

Anyone who is having a crack at something that is out of their comfort zone is my hero. Since the “run club” era took over the Teneriffe Riverwalk, it has been so inspiring to see people of all fitness levels taking on the very intimidating task of going for a run! Equally, anyone new to the studio who throws themselves into the choreography, irrespective of how much of it they pick up, is a champion in my eyes.

What do you love about CYCLE?

No matter how stressful or terrible my day has been, every time I walk out of a spin class, I’ve completely forgotten about it. Thoughts of whatever was worrying me fade away, the knot in my chest releases, and I feel amazing… every time without fail!

Best piece of advice you’ve received on your fitness journey?

Exercising is not all about “getting fitter”. You are limiting yourself if that’s all you want to get out of it. It’s about finding community, lifting your mood, making yourself proud. An improvement in your fitness is just a bonus.

AND A FEW LITTLE EXTRAS...

Outside of Inspire, we will find you...

Running along the riverwalk with my partner and friends, visiting my parents down the Coast, or out at a local restaurant stuffing myself silly!

Favourite time of day to work out?

If I’m running, then I love to go early in the morning, but if I’m doing a spin class, you’ll find me in the studio at night, getting rid of the stress of my day!

A goal for 2024?

My goal was to run the Gold Coast Marathon, but I got sick and injured in the lead-up to the race. I’m now aiming for a sub two-hour half-marathon at the GC50 Running Festival in November!

Which celebrity would be your best friend?

Without a doubt, the Spice Girls. They are fun, silly and love a boogie. They do everything on their own terms and don’t let anyone dim their shine.

If you could live anywhere in the world, where would we find you?

I’d love to live in Canada in the winter, and Hawaii in the summer. The best of both worlds!

We can't wait to ride with Emma this month — book in with her!
