GET TO KNOW YOUR INSTRUCTORS — RICHMOND
We're so excited to introduce Corbin to the Richmond Cycle team.
Her FREE Community Ride is Sunday August 4th @ 8:15am — JUMP ON THE WAITLIST!
Tell us a bit about your fitness background and how you came to be at Inspire...
I grew up dancing but always thought I wasn’t much of an athlete.
Fitness and exercise weren’t really on my radar throughout my younger years—I just didn’t see the value in them because I was so self-conscious about not being particularly good at athletics. But six years ago, a friend convinced me to try a rhythm riding class, and it truly changed my life! Suddenly, fitness was everything to me. I fell in love with cycling, boxing, CrossFit, and weightlifting, and found myself excited to try all sorts of new activities. I realised that what had been holding me back was the belief that I had to be good at something immediately to pursue it (that’s not how life works!) Looking back, I realised I was so wrong before. I am an athlete and health and wellness are at the top of my values!
What’s one thing we might be surprised to learn about you?
I worked in the wine industry for nearly 10 years and have taken formal wine education training - I also spent 5 weeks in Tuscany studying wine in uni so feel free to chat to me about wine if you feel like it!
What can we expect from your class?
You can expect a challenging ride and might be surprised by the diverse range of music. Sometimes I feel like EDM, other times country. The playlist could even include rap with a little Europop sprinkled in! I WILL hold you accountable though and push you to your limits. I believe in you, and you should believe in your capabilities too. Rest assured, I will encourage you every step of the way!
What are you inspired by?
Integrity! It drives me to push my boundaries and give my best even when no one is watching. I also find that inspiration in seeing fellow riders push through challenges and strive for their best without seeking recognition. Everyone is on their own journey, and it's not about being the best, but about being true to oneself.
What do you love about CYCLE?
I love the physical and mental challenge of cycling, but even more, I adore the friends and family I've met along the way. When I first moved to Australia and started instructing in Sydney, I knew no one and felt pretty isolated. Over a very short period of time, I realised I had found a supportive group of friends who I now consider my family!
Best piece of advice you’ve received on your fitness journey?
"The grass is greener where you water it."
I try to apply this not only to my fitness journey but also to my life. Dedicating time and energy to yourself is what will lead you to your goals and achievements. You won’t progress if you spend your energy comparing yourself to someone else.
