Camila, tell us a little bit about you!
Hello everyone!! My name is Camila, and I’m 20 years old. I just transferred from Mexico and will graduate with a Bachelor in Business Administration and a major in Finance in 1.5 years at the Queensland University of Technology. Since I was young, I have been involved in the dance industry for 14 years and did soccer, basketball, ice skating and swimming. Also, I’ve always had the passion to be involved in the work field and started since I was 14 years old; being an art instructor, marketing creator, personal teacher and tutor for all subjects.
Describe yourself in three words.
Dedicated, ambitious and outgoing.
Where are you from? Why did you move to Brisbane, and how are you liking it?
I’ve been living in the beautiful city of Monterrey, Mexico, for 20 years, and had an abroad experience in Quebec, Canada for a semester 3 years ago. I moved to Brisbane 2 weeks ago, and I’m already in love with the city. I chose to come here because it was something out of my comfort zone. The idea of taking a 37 hour flight and moving all by myself into Australia to meet many new friends, cultures, and challenging myself to grow mentally was super exciting to me, so I decided to take this amazing opportunity.
Have you instructed group fitness before?
Yes! I have been an indoor cycling instructor for a year now, and have taught over 120 classes.
Favourite type of class?
My favourite type of class is the hour of power, because you get to do that extra mile and push your body to do more of what it is used to. You get a full hour of connecting with your body and mind; it’s those moments that make you stronger and better.
What style of music do you usually gravitate towards?
I am a big fan of music and love to listen to all styles of music, but my favourite styles would be Techno, RnB, Hip Hop and Rap.
How did you get into cycle? Also specifically, how did you get into cycle at Inspire?
Since I was young, I’ve been surrounded by cyclists: my mum, dad and siblings. I was working as a staff member at an indoor cycling studio in Mexico and started practising the sport 1 and a half years ago. It didn’t take more than 3 classes to instantly fall in love with the sport. I trained for 3 months and became an instructor in August 2021, which was one of the best opportunities that could have ever happened to me. When I was still in Mexico 4 months ago, I was looking for an indoor cycling studio that would challenge me and for a place I would be happy at, so InspireCycle was the place I was just looking for!
What is it that you love about the Inspire community?
Ever since day one, I felt at home, and that is what I love the most about the Inspire Community. It is a place where you step in and feel welcomed. Every person involved in the team wants everybody to succeed and encourages one another to become the best version of each self, which I'm a big fan of.
What does success look like to you?
To me, success means being better and growing each day; taking every opportunity your way and making the most of it. Personally, it also means giving my 110% in everything I am involved in, whilst being my authentic self.
Okay, time for some fun questions!
Who is your favourite artist of all time?
Can’t choose between these: John Mayer, Mac Miller, Harry Styles and Rufus Du Sol!!
Athleisure or dressing up?
I love wearing a Lulu Lemon leggings and sports bra set with my Define Lulu Jacket, sleek hair ponytail, a cute tote bag and my ON white shoes.
What is your favourite song of all time?
Such a difficult question for a music lover, but my two favourite songs would be Innerbloom and Slow Dancing in a Burning Room.
Favourite time of day to workout?
I adore working out at 6:30 am, because you get to start your day with the right foot; full of energy, good music and endorphins.
What are your hobbies?
Discovering new music, taking pictures with my film camera, travelling and meeting new friends.
Next place to travel on your bucket list?
Coast of Italy
What will be your first theme class?
My favourite RnB and HipHop songs all in a 45 minute ride.
